The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) Associate Member Council selected the late Dr. J. Don Brock, Ph.D., P.E., founder of Astec Inc., as the recipient of the Associate Member Council Commendation.

Brock's involvement with NAPA started in 1982, when he served on the Engineering Advisory Council. In 1987, he was instrumental in forming the Associate Member Council and served as its first Vice Chairman. Brock was very involved in the issues of the day, volunteering to serve on many NAPA committees and task forces.

As an innovator, Brock held 100 U.S. and foreign patents on construction equipment and drying machinery. In 1983, NAPA named him "Man of the Year" and he was inducted into the Asphalt Pavement Hall of Fame in 1995.
